Xavier Auza - Dance Instructor
Xaver Auza has been dancing professionally for over 10 years. He started his dancing career with the Albarracin Dance Company in his native Bolivia (folk and jazz dancing) followed by a residency at the Gatell Conservatory for Dancing in Buenos Aires. He currently works for the American Ballroom Theater teaching at public schools around the City and giving private and group lessons to all levels. He is also the Artistic Director of Bocanada, an underground event/organization that for the past few years has discovered and featured some of the most exciting new performers in our City. Xavier has performed at numerous venues and events around the country including Lincoln Center Midsummer Nights; Bryant Park’s Ballroom in the Park; Good Morning America and the Today Show.

Marietta Clark - Dance Instructor
Marietta has an education degree from Ohio State University, where she majored in music education and dance education. Before coming to New York, she taught in the elementary school's Arts Impact Program and also at the Performing Arts High School in the Columbus Public Schools and was in Ballet Met where she was a featured dancer. Marietta performed in the First National Tour of 42nd Street, Ann Mller's Salute To Ruby Keeler, and other shows. Her acting credits include American Repertory Theatre and numerous TV shows and commercials. Marietta performs with Rod Ferrone as half of Feet To The Beat. She has been a guest in his one-man show, Bustin' Loose, and has been his dance partner at festivals in the U.S. and throughout Canada as well as dancing on the Asuka cruise ship and at Town Hall in the Tap Extravaganza.

Priscilla Costa - Dance Instructor
Jazz, ballet, tap dance and modern jazz has been the life of this "Carioca"(born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)) since she was 8 years old. For 15 years she studied, performed, and taught at a number of dance studios in Rio de Janeiro, including the acclaimed Spinelli Dance School. She's performed in numerous Globo TV productions, including 2007 "Vinhetas De Carnaval", in addition to traveling the globe with numerous productions such as "Oba Oba". Here in the United States she spent four years as assistant choreographer and dance captain, of Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey, under celebrated choreographer, Tony Stevens. In February 2006 Ms. Costa became a member of The Brasileirando Dance Group (a Samba and Brazilian style dance group).

Sofia Landon Geier - Drama Teacher
Sofia is currently a writer for TV's Days of our Lives and can be seen in featured roles on Law & Order andTales from the Darkside. She began her career as an actress at Northwestern University, performed regionally, on Broadway and Off-Broadway where she was nominated for a Drama Desk award, and co-founded Albany's Capital Rep. Sofia adapted the novel The Railway Children into a musical and has directed at Fordham University. Sofia loves teaching the kids at MST&DA, and had a blast directing 2005's Stage Door and last spring's Urinetown, the Musical! Sofia is not a dancer.

Sean Hagerty - Drama Teacher
Sean Hagerty trained as an actor at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and studied classical theatre at the renowned Bristol Old Vic in England. As an actor he has performed across the US and UK; recent credits include: Pericles, A Chaste Maid in Cheapside and Oh, What a Lovely War! He has extensive experience as a teacher and director, having worked with numerous schools, conservatories and theatres across the US and UK. He is a member and co-director of the award-winning film company, Proletariat Films.

Diana Herman - Fitness Instructor
While nursing for 10 years, Diana danced in a company (ballet). Her interest in dance lead her to apply and get accepted into a master levels physical therapy program. Getting pregnant with twins derailed that plan. However, since 1991 Diana has been teaching fitness. Currently she has a belt in NIA dance, certification in stott pilates, IM=X pilates (both are mat), and certification in svaroopa yoga. She has also been studying QiGong for a year.

Theresa Herron - Dance Instructor
Theresa Herron has danced, performed and taught throughout her life. She started as a child with the practices of ballet, yoga and southern folk dances. She has performed with the Georgia Dance Theatre Company and with various choreographers in New York and has also created and produced her own dance compositions. She possesses several yoga, pilates, group fitness, personal training, prenatal and post-partum fitness certifications, and double-majored in dance and English in college. In addition to teaching full-time yoga, dance and pilates, she has published numerous dance and arts articles.

Makiko Ishimori - Dance Instructor

Originally from Japan, Makiko Ishimori started dancing when she was five years old. She participated in Asia Pacific Ballet Competition & All Japan Ballet Competition when she was teenager. After she finished her High school she entered the Shiki Theatrical Company (the biggest musical company in Japan) acting school. In 1997 she graduated from that school and joined musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera (over 350 stages in Tokyo & Nagoya), Musical Hans Christian Andersen (1998 in Osaka) and Japanese Ordinal Musical Lee Kou Ran (1997 in Tokyo & Osaka). Makiko moved to United States in 2000 and in 2001 she joined Michael Mao Dance in NYC. She later joined the company Chinese version of Natcraker which was called Firecracker (2002-2003 in China). In 2004 she started to study Pilates at Pilates on fifth and that November she received full certification from Sttot Pilates.

Mary McCatty - Executive Director, Dance Instructor and Choreographer
Mary McCatty has performed, choreographed and taught master classes around the world in all areas of dance. Her teaching credits include Broadway Dance Center in NYC, Showstopper, NWCA, New Hopewell Center for the Performing Arts, Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance, Paper Mill Playhouse Summer conservatory and numerous classes around the USA. Mary has also appeared in numerous Broadway shows and enjoyed a high-kicking career as a Radio City Rockette at Radio City Music Hall. Choreography is another of Mary’s fortes having choreographed many stage and fashion shows. Mary is currently a teaching artist for American Ballroom Theatre’s Dancing Classrooms. As Executive Director of MST&DA since 2005, Mary coordinates the many administrative and operational matters necessary to make MST&DA succeed and thrive.

John Ollom - Dance Instructor
John Ollom received his BFA in Ballet from TCU and has performed at the Kennedy Center with Infinity Dance Theater and Lincoln Center with Diane Faye Dance Theater. His dancing has taken him to Africa, Europe, and the east coast of China. As a teacher, John teaches partnering workshops in the professional series at the Harkness Center for Dance at the 92nd Street Y. He has also taught at Dance Space Center and has been the ballet master at the McBurney Y since 2000. John is the dance faculty coordinator at the McBurney Y under the directorship of Barbara Parker.

Debra Orenstein - Dance Instructor
Debra Orenstein has been teaching adults and children for over 25 years. She has been teaching at MST&DA for over a decade. She is also on Dance Faculty at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center and an Early Intervention Specialist with the Lifestart program at Lenox Hill Hospital. As if that isn’t enough, Debra is also the Assistant Director of Education for the Isadora Duncan International Institute and a member of the IDII Dance Company.

Barbara Parker - Dance Instructor
Barbara Parker is a fitness/dance instructor as well as a personal trainer. She’s been in the fitness and dance field for over 20 years. At the Main Street Theatre, she teaches Aeropump and IM=X Pilates adult classes and the Hip Hop dance classes for the middle school ages and teens. She also participates in the dance productions and theatre shows at the Theatre. Barbara is also the Health and Wellness director at the McBurney YMCA, where she is involved in many community programs.

Carla Steckman - Drama Teacher
Carla Steckman is a graduate of the Drama Department of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. While at the school she studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and appeared in many shows. Carla grew up on Roosevelt Island where she participated in over ten years of classes and shows at the Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance. She returned to the theatre as director of the 3rd through 7th grade Children’s program. She directed Annie and Oliver in her first season and last year directed Damn Yankees. She is thrilled to be back at the theatre and looks forward to teaching the new and returning young actors.
