CAMPS

MSTDA offers a variety of camps during school breaks and summer. Camps are theatre and dance based incorporating singing, dancing, acting, writing, set design, and performance. For full description of camps, see below.

Playmakers® Preschool Camp 3-5 yrs

This innovative introductory camp explores story-telling, acting, singing and dancing. We play theatre games, act out stories, try on costumes, learn songs and scenes and overall encourage creative self-discovery. Camp is 9am to noon for all ages with optional 12-3pm for ages 4 & 5. Campers will have outdoor free play time, weather permitted, and many other fun filled activities. Lunch and snack must be provided. Spring break camp is Monday through Friday; summer camp is Monday through Thursday only. Lunch and snack must be provided.

Broadway Boot Camp Ages 6+

Offered during Mid-Winter February Break, Spring Break and Summer, Broadway Boot Camp is a week long intensive that focuses on all components of musical theatre. Camp is Monday through Thursday from 9am-4pm and 9am-3pm on Friday (parents arrive early for performance). Students will work with a team of staff members learning parts of a known musical during the week to prepare for a performance on Friday, the final day. The camp day includes dancing, singing, acting, theatre games, set design, free play, outdoor time and performance. Lunch and snack must be provided.

Make-A-Musical Camp Ages 6+

Offered in the spring and summer, this camp gives students the opportunity to become the creative team. Campers will write and compose their own musical, create sets, design costumes, cast, choreograph and produce their own show! Guided by a team of writers and composers, students will learn all about what goes into creating and producing a show. Camp is Monday through Thursday from 9am-4pm and Friday from 9am-3pm. Final show is on the last Friday of camp. Parents will be invited early to watch the final performance. Lunch and snack must be provided.

Summer Dance Intensive Camp Ages 6+

The camp gives students the opportunity to explore creativity while building strong dance fundamentals. Throughout the week, dancers will be introduced to multiple dance styles, along with conditioning specifically designed for dancers. Students are grouped by age and experience level. Camp hours vary depending on age of child.

Shakespeare for Kids Camp Ages 6+

This camp will focus on various approaches to acting Shakespeare’s verse, with the aim of bringing the actor closer to the text. Students will explore text from a technical approach (including iambic pentameter, rhetoric, punctuation, etc) to personal connection (e.g., imagery and character) in an age appropriate way giving students a better understanding of the literature.
