JUNIOR DANCE

There will be an open class at the end of the Fall/Winter session for invited guests. Students will be invited to participate in the MSTDA Dance Concert in the Spring.

Age requirements are specified and must be met by the first class of each semester. Students do not move up in the middle of a semester. If they meet the age requirement for the next semester, they will move up then. Some students may be placed in another age group at the discretion of MSTDA. This is done based on ability and teacher evaluation.

Ballet

Attire - For ballet, girls should wear leotard, tights, ballet shoes and hair up; boys should wear sweat pants or boy's dance pants with a fitted t-shirt and ballet shoes. Any color is allowed.

Ballet I

Students will learn basic classical ballet technique, vocabulary and class format. Students will do barre and center work that develops strength, body alignment, flexibility, gracefulness and musicality.

Ballet II

Students will learn basic, beginning and advanced-beginning classical ballet technique, vocabulary and class format. Students will do barre and center work that develops strength, body alignment, flexibility, gracefulness and musicality.

Ballet III/IV Advanced Ballet Teacher Placement

This class is for more advanced students who already have the dance vocabulary and background to work at this level. In the advanced ballet class, an introduction to pointe ballet is possible for students who are ready.

Hip Hop

Attire: Comfortable clothing to move in. No dresses or skirts unless leggings are worn underneath, students will be doing some acrobatics. For all Hip Hop classes, students should wear clean sneakers. During the winter, please pack shoes not worn outside.

Hip-Hop

Encourages creative expression in a fast-paced and energetic dance style using the latest street/urban dance moves. Hip hop encompasses a wide range of street styles including breaking, locking and popping. This class focuses on developing rhythm and coordination while encouraging individual style.

Tap

Attire - For Tap class students should wear a leotard or fitted shirt with tights, leggings, jazz pants, or sweat pants with tap shoes. Long hair should be pulled back.

Tap

Students will focus on developing rhythmic skills, coordination, and musicality through percussive footwork.

Jazz

Attire - For Jazz class students should wear a leotard or fitted shirt with tights, leggings, jazz pants, or sweat pants with jazz shoes. Long hair should be pulled back.

Jazz 6 yrs + and 9 yrs+

A fun and supportive environment to learn core technique. Students in this class will learn basic and intermediate Jazz technique, terms and steps, and choreography. Through learning foundational Jazz dance, students will gain skills to apply to many other contemporary styles including Musical Theatre, as well as improving flexibility, musicality and gracefulness.

Dance Company

MSTDA Junior & Senior Company Dance Class Audition Required

A company dance class for advanced students focusing on the foundations of musical theatre dance: jazz, contemporary and ballet technique. Auditions are required. Students must be committed to weekly attendance and are asked to perform at local events and special occasions. Students must have prior dance training to participate in this class.

Summer Dance Intensive 6 yrs + and 9 yrs +

A dance class specifically for students looking to take the next step in their dance training! Offered in the summer, this class focuses on technique in multiple styles and learning combinations quickly in an audition format. Students must have prior dance training to participate in this class.

Fall/Winter Semester

$352 (16 classes)
10% discount applied to each additional class/child enrollment

Classes will take place at MSTDA 548 Main Street.
