MSTDA has served the Roosevelt Island Community for over 40 years. We are proud to help represent the community at many annual and special events.

The Star Award

The MSTDA Star Award is presented biennially to a prominent local figure to recognize their life achievements and contributions to the community and culture of the arts.

Former Star Award Recipients

2021 - Dr. Katherine Grimm, long time Roosevelt Island pediatrician and Roosevelt Island resident

2024 - Wendy L. Hersh, President of the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association and founder of the Roosevelt Island Food Pantry

2026- Debra Orenstein, early childhood educator for MSTDA, the Roosevelt Island Day Nursery, PS/IS 217, and the Roosevelt Island Senior Center.
